GHSS proudly joins the United Nations Health Innovation Exchange (HIEx) as an esteemed advisor to The Climate & Health Innovation Equity Fund (CHIEF). This collaborative initiative represents a pioneering effort to address the intricate intersection of climate, health, and equity. The overarching goal of CHIEF is to forge climate-resilient and equitable health systems in Low & Middle Income Countries (LMICs) by actively investing in and expediting innovations, dismantling silos, and fortifying capacities for the most vulnerable populations.

In tandem with international partners, CHIEF aspires to cultivate a substantial $500 million pool of innovative blended catalytic finance instruments. This financial reservoir is specifically designed to propel advancements in climate change health resiliency through strategic investments and the provision of technical assistance.

During COP28, HIEx, in collaboration with the International Solar Alliance (ISA), orchestrated a pivotal discussion titled “Emerging Financing Models at The Intersection of Climate, Health, and Equity.” This session, a testament to CHIEF’s mission, centered around the pursuit of building climate-resilient and equitable health systems through the twin pillars of innovation and collaboration.

As part of this session, GHSS’s CEO, Kay van der Horst, hosted a panel of distinguished global experts who shared profound insights on prioritizing health investments, seamlessly integrating sustainable energy solutions, and fostering impactful partnerships. The objective of this panel was to explore the opportunities and challenges for CHIEF in tackling the complex challenges presented by the impact of climate change on health and equity.

The discourse at COP28 underscored the commitment of CHIEF and its partners to effecting positive change at the nexus of climate, health, and equity.
